Day 4: Guest Services Training Continued
Today I learned how to take out the rubbish and where to put it. Then I mopped Our Chalet. I've definitely learned some life skills from this cleaning and I feel like I am earning my board! Before lunch, two of the spring vollies did a performance of the Single Ladies dance by Beyonce which was awesome! They have a lot of skills!
Some guests arrived today and we had a welcoming and pinning ceremony for them near the flag pole (sans miniature flags). I talked with one girl from Canada who has been staying with host families this year in Switzerland through Rotary Club. I thought that this is really cool and I might look into it.....
The rest of the day we had kitchen training with Katy, the Kitchen Coordinator. My favorite part was when we raced to find different items from the kitchen and/or food pantry for Toblerone chocolate. I found the squeegee and the reward was delicious! Then we worked with Katy to prepare and clean-up dinner.
I went to craft night tonight and I had a lovely conversation with a guest who is in 10th grade and living in Austria. I also made a successful scherenschnitt! A scherenschnitt is a Swiss scissor cutting craft where you take a design and cut out a sillouhette basically. I cut out a horse and buggy with people next to it.
Well I am off to bed....tomorrow is my first day off and I am going to Bern with most of the other Summer vollies! I am excited to see the capital!!!
